How You can Avoid Burnout
For the first time in society, burnout has become a real issue and learning how to avoid burnout is critical to your overall health.
Did you know that millions of Americans don’t use all of their paid time off? According to a recent poll, at least 30% of employed adults hand back 421 million days to their employers. With the stress of deadlines and pressure to constantly do and be better, many people are sacrificing their vacation days and sick time to be able to make ends meet or take those extra strides that will catch the boss’s attention.

If you feel like you don’t have time to do the things you love, you just may be on the brink of burnout. Something that is actually effecting many people in today’s society.
Find and Create Balance to Avoid Burnout
Our lives are made to be balanced. When one side is too heavy, we take away from the other sides that keep us happy and truly fulfilled.
This can lead to stress, lack of energy, anxiety attacks, breakdowns, sadness, and more.
So how can we shift this so that we no longer feel that we’re being pulled in a million directions with no time to honor the things that matter most?
Draw the Line to Avoid Brunout
Write down how you desire to divide the time of your day. How much time are you currently dedicating towards work? How about time dedicated for yourself? For your family? Exercise? Activities that make you happy?
Be real with yourself and break down your schedule. Burnout could be occurring without you even realizing it. Once you see it on paper though, you may gain a new perspective and be able to avoid burnout.
If you notice that you’re spending far too much time at work working towards someone else’s dreams – it’s time to draw the line for yourself. Now this isn’t to say slack off, but you as a whole are just as deserving of the time, love, and energy that you put into your job.
Begin to make time for yourself and the people in your life who nourish and uplift you. That may mean setting an alarm to leave the office no later than 6 PM every day, or waking up earlier so that you can get a workout in before starting your day. Wake up early and have a good breakfast. Start the day off on a high note and also end it that way.
It doesn’t need to be anything drastic. Small changes can create a big difference. When you start to bring awareness towards how you spend your time, your whole life can change in what will feel like no time at all.
You will notice a happiness and vitality that you may have been lacking. You will have more energy to do what you love, and it will inspire you to be even more productive at work with less time! Doesn’t that sound amazing? You can have your cake and eat it too!
It starts with you. Map out your day and see where you can start making small shifts.
